Two new articles up today live from the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, CA.

First, up at GamePolitics, I covered a session called “Violence Prevention — Playing A Video Game Can Make A Difference.” The session covers CSRIC and their entry into the serious games market with children’s violence prevention games such as Alex Wonder, and Sydney Safe-Seeker.

The second, up at Negative Gamer, is from a session called “Abusing Your Players Just For Fun” by John “Cactus” Soderstrom. The session was a complete bust and the review doesn’t pull any punches in calling out Cactus for his weak performance.

Look for more coverage live from GDC in the next few days!

If you are a developer and have a media request please email me ASAP – I’m just about completely booked for GDC and while I have more leeway at PAX, I’m also going to be doing some live podcasting that will need to be scheduled around. If you want to meet up for drinks, you can either email me or send a tweet to @SWATJester on twitter and I’ll be in touch. And on the off chance anyone is in Vegas between now and Monday, I’m here on vacation.

I’ll be attending VGXPO in Philly next weekend, though I don’t have any speaking engagements planned. Also, I’ve recently written a two part exclusive preview of LotRO: The Mines of Moria over at Stratics, with over 80 exclusive screenshots. You can read the first part here.

Also, my comment on jurisdictional analysis and the harmful-effects doctrine in MMORPGs is almost finished, and the first completed draft should be done by Tuesday. Hopefully I’ll be seeing info on publishing by December or early January.
